For our cucumbers and indeterminate early girl tomatoes, we opted for the 80 inch posts, which gave the plants plenty of vertical space to grow. The taller posts allowed the plant to grow with ease and kept the plants upright and protected from tipping over, helping prevent disease and improving air circulation. For our determinate Amish Paste tomato plants, we used the 60 inch posts, which were just the right height to support the shorter, bushier plants.
We connected the trellis system together across the raised bed to support our cucumbers and pickles, which worked out perfectly.
